Creating a daily routine may seem hard. We normally have habits that we do without being conscient of them. Once you have a goal or purpose, you must add a routine that fits this goal or purpose, and which organizes your life. These are the steps that I took and the morning routine that I use daily. It helps me focus and get things done early in the day so I’m motivated to move forward on the harder tasks that I must do.
1. Schedule a time to wake up.
I blogged about this and gave you some insights on how I schedule my wake-up time. Doing this will help you be more productive if you are a morning person as I am. If you are an afternoon person or night person you may have to schedule it differently depending on your energy levels. But it is still good to have this planned out in advance so you can be more productive in your day.
2. Meditate.
I do daily meditation. The meditation that I do is mindful meditation, but you can start with the meditation that you feel more comfortable to you. I do 20 minutes a day, but I started meditating with the 21-day method of Deepak Chopra and then started doing the 10, 15 and 20 minutes of headspace, that I recommend more for beginners. The benefits of meditation are many. I like that I am more focused on, I can concentrate on things better, I can’t explain it, but I also see things better. I mean after doing meditation for a long period of time of time and doing it frequently, you get to enjoy the colors of life in a different way. I really recommend this practice and it really helps to minimize or decrease the stress levels that you may have. I recommend that you schedule some time in the morning, but as you become more experienced, you can do it any time and for any period and get the benefits you need.
3. Journal.
I love writing. But journaling helps you get things off your chest and look at things in a different way. I recommend that you start your day with a stoic journal. This is what I do. I use Ryan Holidays ‘Daily Stoic Journal’ for prompts. I also wrote a creativity journal of my own called “#100Daycreativityjournal”. It has quotes from my mentors and you can use them for inspiration in your writing. It’s going to be out very soon, and it is more like a challenge, so you get in the habit of journaling.
4. Exercise.
Daily exercise is an energy booster. I have always done exercise, but I started to do daily exercises around two years ago and it has helped me stay fit for longer periods of time. I recognize that at 46 I feel more energized and healthier than 10 years ago. The benefits of exercising are also great, and I will try to blog about this, so you have more information about my own experience. Please include some time for exercising routine in your day, you won’t regret it.
5. Go to work.
After you finish getting ready start to work on your hardest task. Try to concentrate and do deep work. Deep work is at least four hours of concentration work in one important task, so you finish it or at least get a big chunk of work out. This is part of your routine and can have a huge impact in your life.
6. Bonus: Repeat for 21 days.
21 days makes a habit. You may think of it as the magic period that rewires your brain and helps you put your schedule in automatic. Its not going to be easy, because in the beginning you will find a lot of hurdles that will prevent you from being consistent. But the key is this one, being consistent for the 21 days and then your routine will feel like necessary, like if you don’t do it something went wrong in your day.
